
5 Tips for Preventing Eczema Flare-Ups This Fall

While moisturizing is important all year, it’s vital in the fall because of how the cool, dry air affects skin hydration and can lead to eczema flare-ups. Choose a fragrance-free moisturizer made for sensitive skin and apply daily, especially after bathing.
2. Use a humidifier
Summer humidity can help keep your skin hydrated, but indoor heating and drier fall air can quickly deplete moisture levels. Running a humidifier in your living and work space helps restore moisture to the air, reducing the risk of skin dryness that can trigger eczema flare-ups.
3. Wear skin-friendly clothes
A change in seasons means a change in wardrobe. Some fabrics, like wool and some synthetics, can irritate your sensitive skin. Choose soft, breathable fabrics like cotton, silk, and bamboo.
Weather is unpredictable in the fall, so dress in layers to prevent overheating and sweating, which can increase eczema symptoms.
