The dermatopathologists at Associated Skin Care Specialists are committed to working closely with dermatologists to provide the most accurate diagnosis for our patients. We are fortunate at Associated Skin Care Specialists to have in-house, dedicated experts in dermatopathology that specialize in skin diseases, including skin cancers, immunologic conditions, infections, alopecia and pediatric conditions. Our team consists of two dermatology-trained and board ceritfied dermatopathologists. The onsite processing lab is located at our main office in Fridley, ensuring fast turn around times for skin biopsies and allowing direct communication between those physicians interacting with the patients and obtaining skin biopsies and the physicians who are aiding diagnosis at the microscopic level.

WHAT ARE DERMATOPATHOLOGISTS?

Dermatopathologists are physicians who use microscopes to study skin at the microscopic and molecular level. They have completed 4 years of training in either dermatology or pathology and go on to extra training specific to diseases of the skin.

 

WHAT DO DERMATOPATHOLOGISTS DO?

Dermatopathologists examine skin biopsies using a microscope. They use information provided by the clinician obtaining the biopsy including a description of the rash or lesion and information gained from studying the skin specimen with a microscope to aid in the diagnosis of rashes, lesions and conditions affecting the skin.
